I. The Metaphysical Reading

How the stone has been held.

Eclogite is worked with as a stone of pressure met and survived, kept in workspaces during long negotiations, endurance training and any practice that asks a person to hold shape under load. Practitioners hold it as a reminder that beauty and force are not opposites.

II. The Scientific Reading

What the lattice actually does.

Eclogite is a rare high-pressure metamorphic rock formed when basalt or gabbro is buried to depths of 45 km or more (roughly 1.2 – 3 GPa) at moderate temperatures, typically in subduction zones. Its diagnostic assemblage of red pyrope-almandine garnet in a green omphacitic pyroxene matrix is one of the most reliable field indicators of former deep-crustal or upper-mantle conditions.
