Amphibole Quartz has the chemical formula SiO₂ + amphibole-group inclusions (actinolite, riebeckite, hornblende), crystallises in the trigonal (host quartz) system and measures 7 (Mohs) on the Mohs scale. Amphibole quartz is a single quartz crystal that has grown around fibrous inclusions from the amphibole group - most often actinolite (green), hornblende (black), riebeckite (blue), or lepidocrocite/hematite (red-gold). The inclusions were suspended in the mineralising fluid and became sealed inside the growing lattice; their orientation records the flow direction of the parent solution.
