Q: What is Angel Aura Quartz made of?

Angel Aura Quartz has the chemical formula SiO₂ + Pt/Ag vapour deposit, crystallises in the trigonal (host quartz) system and measures 7 (Mohs) on the Mohs scale. Angel aura is a treated material rather than a natural species. Clear quartz points are heated in a vacuum chamber to roughly 900 °C, then bonded with a vapour of platinum and silver (sometimes with trace gold). Metal atoms adhere permanently to the crystal surface in a film only nanometres thick, producing the iridescent thin-film interference that gives the stone its characteristic sheen.
