I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Candle quartz, sometimes called pineapple quartz, is worked with as a stone of ancestral warmth and gathered light. Practitioners keep it on altars during winter and around family gatherings, and speak of it as a reminder that a single flame is easier to keep alive when it is sheltered.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Candle quartz is a habit in which a larger quartz crystal is heavily coated in smaller parasitic quartz crystals that grew simultaneously on its faces, resembling wax that has run down the side of a taper. It forms when late hydrothermal fluids nucleate on an existing crystal at slightly different chemistry from the original growth. Fine material comes from Madagascar, particularly the Antsirabe region.
