Champagne Aura is natural quartz permanently bonded with a vapour-deposited film of gold and indium in a vacuum chamber, producing an iridescent warm-gold coating a few atoms thick. The underlying quartz retains its trigonal structure and hardness of 7; the metallic film is delicate and should not be cleansed with salt or abrasives that would strip the coating.
