I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Chrome Diopside is worked with as a stone of forest quiet, kept nearby during grief work, garden tending and the slow re-greening that follows a difficult season. Practitioners hold it as a reminder that the heart, like a woodland, regrows in layers.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Chrome Diopside is the chromium-bearing green variety of diopside, a calcium magnesium pyroxene. The chromium substitution produces its saturated green colour, rivalling emerald at small sizes. Most commercial gem material comes from the Inagli complex in eastern Siberia, where it forms in ultramafic dunite and kimberlite pipes.
