I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Glacier quartz is worked with as a stone of clean beginnings, kept nearby during cold retreats, meditation on stillness and any practice that welcomes a pause. Practitioners hold it as a reminder that a frozen moment is still a moment of grace.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Glacier quartz is a trade description for quartz with abundant internal fractures and fluid inclusions that scatter light and give the crystal a frosted, ice-like appearance. The optical effect is the same silica behaviour seen in girasol and milky quartz — the fractures, not any chemical change, are what make the stone read as icy.
