Peach Moonstone has the chemical formula KAlSi₃O₈ with lamellar albite intergrowths, crystallises in the monoclinic system and measures 6 – 6.5 (Mohs) on the Mohs scale. Peach moonstone is a variety of orthoclase feldspar (KAlSi₃O₈) containing fine exsolution lamellae of albite. These alternating layers scatter light to produce adularescence, a billowy sheen. The warm peach tint comes from trace iron and structural defects.
