Q: What is Flower Agate made of?

Flower Agate has the chemical formula SiO₂ (chalcedony with plume inclusions), crystallises in the trigonal (microcrystalline) system and measures 6.5 – 7 (Mohs) on the Mohs scale. Flower agate is a Madagascan chalcedony in which white and cream plume inclusions of fibrous chalcedony have nucleated on impurities within a soft peach silica ground and grown radially outward, producing small blossom-like figures. The material has been on the wider market only since around 2018 and its exact host geology is still being documented.
