I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
A softer companion to citrine and true amber. Traditional use places amber calcite on the belly to encourage warmth, rest, and unhurried recovery. Practitioners describe it as a stone of gentle nourishment - of the small kindness done for oneself before the larger work resumes.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Amber calcite is a variety of macrocrystalline calcite whose warm colour is produced by trace ferric and manganous ions in the carbonate lattice. Like all calcite it displays strong double refraction - a clear cleavage rhomb placed on a printed line will visibly split it. The bulk of the material sold worldwide is quarried from the Salt Range in Pakistan.
