I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Blue chalcedony is one of the classical throat stones for measured speech, carried before difficult meetings and long-form teaching. Practitioners associate its waxy translucence with words that carry warmth even when the message is firm.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Blue chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline variety of quartz whose soft blue colour is a Rayleigh-scattering effect from micro-inclusions rather than a chemical pigment: fine particles scatter shorter wavelengths of light much as the sky does. Classic Namibian material from the Karas region shows the most saturated colour; the Eskişehir deposits of Anatolia and the Mtorolite plateaus of Malawi supply much of the current market.
