Blue Lace Agate

I. The Metaphysical Reading

How the stone has been held.

Blue lace agate is worked with as a stone of gentle speech and nervous system regulation. Practitioners hold it during difficult conversations, and it is favoured for children, sensitive throats, and anyone learning to say what is true without raising the voice.

II. The Scientific Reading

What the lattice actually does.

Blue lace agate is a rare fibrous chalcedony banded in pale blue and white by rhythmic silica precipitation in volcanic host rock. The finest and only significant commercial deposit is at Ysterputs Farm in the Karas region of southern Namibia, discovered in the 1960s and worked intermittently since. Smaller occurrences appear in Malawi and Brazil but rarely match the delicacy of the Namibian material.
