I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Blue fluorite is carried as a study stone for practitioners whose thoughts run faster than they can be written down. It is worked with to slow down and structure attention rather than to summon inspiration, and is kept on the desk rather than the altar.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Blue fluorite is a variety of the calcium fluoride mineral fluorite whose colour comes from natural gamma-radiation-induced colour centres associated with rare earth impurities. Fluorite is the defining mineral of hardness 4 on the Mohs scale, and many crystals are strongly fluorescent under ultraviolet light (the phenomenon takes its name from the mineral). The Cave-in-Rock district of southern Illinois produced the classic deep-blue American cubes.
