I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Blue halite is worked with as a stone of cleansing and quiet mental clarity, kept in a sealed jar rather than in the open. Practitioners speak of it as a reminder that some difficult truths only surface after very long time underground.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Blue halite is a variety of common rock salt whose extraordinary colour comes from colloidal sodium metal formed within the crystal lattice by natural radiation from surrounding potassium-40 in potash beds. The colour is stable while the salt is buried but fades within weeks in humid air as the sodium colloids oxidise. The best-known material is mined from the Carlsbad potash deposits of southern New Mexico and from the Zechstein evaporites of central Europe.
