Dianite Blue Jade has the chemical formula Na₂Ca(Si₄O₁₀)(F,OH)₂ (with K, Ba), crystallises in the triclinic system and measures 5.5 – 6 (Mohs) on the Mohs scale. Dianite is a rare blue rock discovered in the 1990s in the Chary-Tokkinsky alkaline complex of Yakutia, made largely of the fibrous sodium-calcium silicate mineral dianite (a K-bearing member of the canasite / miserite chemistry family). It is sometimes marketed as 'blue jade', but it is not a jade — neither jadeite nor nephrite — and its softer hardness reflects that.
