I. The Metaphysical Reading

How the stone has been held.

Carnotite is a specimen stone kept behind glass and never carried, worked with only through observation. Practitioners speak of it as a witness stone to what the mineral kingdom will do when it is asked to power human ambition without limit.

II. The Scientific Reading

What the lattice actually does.

Carnotite is a strongly radioactive potassium uranyl vanadate that forms as a bright yellow secondary mineral in the oxidised zones of sandstone-hosted uranium deposits. The Colorado Plateau ores were the primary source of uranium for the Manhattan Project and remained the main US uranium supply through the 1950s. Specimens require lead-shielded storage and are not appropriate for handling, jewellery or elixirs.
