Dragi jade is a trade name for Serbian nephrite jade, a felted aggregate of the tremolite–actinolite amphibole series formed by metasomatism of serpentinised ultramafic rocks. Nephrite owes its exceptional toughness — significantly higher than jadeite — to this interlocking fibrous microstructure rather than to any high intrinsic hardness.
