I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Flower rhyolite is worked with as a stone of long-project stamina, kept on the desk during month-long or year-long undertakings and any practice that asks a person to keep tending something that grows slowly. Practitioners hold it as a reminder that persistence and joy are allowed in the same room.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Flower rhyolite — usually sold as rainforest jasper — is a decorative variety of rhyolite from the Mount Hay volcanic complex in Queensland, in which the fine-grained feldspar-and-quartz volcanic groundmass is patterned with zones of green epidote, cream feldspar and rust-coloured iron-oxide-stained jasper. Despite the trade name it is a rhyolite, not a true jasper.
