I. The Metaphysical Reading

How the stone has been held.

Fluorapatite is worked with as a stone of clean speech, kept nearby during study, teaching and any practice that asks a person to say a thing precisely and once. Practitioners hold it as a reminder that the mineral in this stone is also the mineral in one's teeth and bones.

II. The Scientific Reading

What the lattice actually does.

Fluorapatite is the fluorine end-member of the apatite group and the most abundant phosphate mineral in the Earth's crust. It is the primary mineral of tooth enamel and bone, and the principal industrial source of phosphate for fertiliser. Gem-quality crystals come from Cerro de Mercado in Durango (Mexico), the Panasqueira mines in Portugal, and pegmatites in Brazil and Madagascar.
