I. The Metaphysical Reading

How the stone has been held.

Fluorite is worked with as a stone of order, kept nearby during long study, decluttering and any practice that asks a person to sort their inputs. Practitioners hold it as a reminder that clarity often looks like colour arriving in bands rather than in a single line.

II. The Scientific Reading

What the lattice actually does.

Fluorite is calcium fluoride crystallising in the cubic system with perfect octahedral cleavage. Its wide colour range comes from lattice defects (colour centres) and trace rare-earth substitutions; the phenomenon of fluorescence itself is named after this mineral, first recorded in Derbyshire specimens by George Stokes in 1852. Hunan Province in China is now the world's dominant source of specimen and industrial-grade material.
