II. The Scientific Reading

What the lattice actually does.

Goethite is the most common iron oxyhydroxide and the principal constituent of ordinary rust, limonite and yellow-brown ochre. It forms under oxidising conditions from the weathering of iron-bearing minerals and precipitates from iron-rich groundwater into botryoidal and stalactitic crusts. Ground goethite has been used as a pigment since the Palaeolithic.
