I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Green apatite is worked with as a stone of appetite for the good, held during recovery, retraining and the return of ordinary hunger. Practitioners keep it at the solar plexus to steady the will and remind the body that wanting things is a form of health.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Apatite is the mineral group that gives its name to bone and tooth enamel; the same calcium phosphate lattice occurs both as an igneous accessory and as the biomineral. Green fluorapatite owes its colour to trace manganese and rare-earth substitutions in the calcium site. Its hexagonal prisms are common in pegmatites, marbles and phosphate-rich sediments.
