I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Green aragonite is worked with as a stone of grounded compassion, held when caring for others has to be sustainable. Practitioners keep it near the heart to steady the practice of giving without depletion.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Aragonite is one of the two common polymorphs of calcium carbonate — the other being calcite — and forms in orthorhombic crystals rather than calcite's trigonal habit. It is the primary carbonate secreted by many molluscs and corals and is thermodynamically unstable at surface conditions, slowly recrystallising to calcite over geologic time. Green varieties owe their colour to trace copper or iron.
