Pistachio Calcite

I. The Metaphysical Reading

How the stone has been held.

Pistachio calcite is kept as a stone of gentle renewal. Practitioners reach for it after burnout or long illness, treating its soft green as permission to recover slowly rather than performing recovery.

II. The Scientific Reading

What the lattice actually does.

Pistachio calcite is ordinary calcite whose green tint comes from finely dispersed chlorite, serpentine or other magnesium silicate inclusions rather than from the carbonate itself. Like all calcite it is strongly birefringent, shows perfect rhombohedral cleavage in three directions, and effervesces in dilute hydrochloric acid.
