I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Dallasite is worked with as a stone of Pacific coastal steadiness, kept nearby during grief-tending, sea travel and any practice that asks a person to accept that what has broken can still hold together. Practitioners hold it as a reminder that a mended thing is not a lesser thing.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Dallasite is a Vancouver Island trade name for a volcanic breccia in which angular fragments of pale silica (quartz, chalcedony) and epidote-rich altered basalt are cemented within a dark green basaltic groundmass. It formed when Karmutsen Formation basalts were fractured and then rehealed by later hydrothermal fluids depositing silica and epidote in the cracks.
