I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Chlorophane is worked with as a stone of latent light and delayed response, kept nearby during creative incubation and the long silences that precede an unexpected answer. Practitioners hold it as a reminder that some materials only speak when the room has warmed to them.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Chlorophane is a rare variety of fluorite exhibiting exceptionally strong thermoluminescence — it glows green when gently heated, releasing energy stored in defects caused by trace rare-earth elements and natural radiation exposure. The effect can be exhausted with repeated heating; classic material comes from Amelia Court House, Virginia and Franklin, New Jersey.
