I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Dendritic Agate is worked with as a stone of rooted growth, kept nearby during land-based practices, gardening and the tending of long relationships. Practitioners hold it as a reminder that a family tree, once drawn, is also a piece of geology.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Dendritic Agate is a chalcedony in which manganese and iron oxides have crystallised into fractal, fern-like patterns along thin partings within the stone. The dendrites are inorganic — they resemble plants but are precipitated from mineral-bearing fluids seeping through microfractures.
