What the lattice actually does.

Epididymite is a rare hydrated sodium-beryllium silicate that crystallises in the late-stage hydrothermal environments of alkaline nepheline-syenite pegmatites — most famously at Mont Saint-Hilaire in Québec and the Langesundsfjord in Norway. It is dimorphous with eudidymite, sharing the same NaBeSi₃O₇(OH) chemistry but differing in symmetry.
