Blue Scheelite

I. The Metaphysical Reading

How the stone has been held.

Blue scheelite is worked with as a stone of orientation, kept nearby when a practitioner must hold a large system in mind at once. It is favoured by researchers, planners and anyone who needs to see how the pieces of a long project connect.

II. The Scientific Reading

What the lattice actually does.

The material sold as blue scheelite is a rock rather than a single mineral, made of calcium tungstate scheelite intergrown with grey calcite and lithium-rich lepidolite. It fluoresces bright blue-white under short-wave ultraviolet light due to the scheelite content, a property used industrially to prospect for tungsten. Most lapidary-grade material comes from the Uludağ deposit in Turkey and from workings in Sonora, Mexico.
