I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Flower jasper is worked with as a companion stone for solitary practice, kept in the studio, meditation room or garden pot as a small piece of company. Practitioners hold it as a reminder that quiet time is not empty time.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Flower jasper is a trade name for jaspers and silicified sediments in which radial rosettes of feldspar, celestine or calcite have crystallised as spherulites within a fine-grained silica or clay-rich groundmass. When the rosettes are of calcite in a black shale ground the material is separately marketed as chrysanthemum stone; flower jasper covers the paler, more silica-rich variants.
