I. The Metaphysical Reading

How the stone has been held.

Goshenite is worked with as a stone of honest speech, kept nearby during difficult meetings, arbitration and any practice that asks a person to see the situation without tinting it. Practitioners hold it as a reminder that clarity is a colour of its own.

II. The Scientific Reading

What the lattice actually does.

Goshenite is the colourless variety of beryl and the closest the beryl group comes to a chemically pure Be₃Al₂(SiO₃)₆ composition, containing very little of the trace elements (Cr, V, Fe, Mn, Cs) that give emerald, aquamarine, heliodor and morganite their colours. It was historically ground into lenses and used as a proxy for rock crystal in optical instruments.
