Hematoid Quartz

I. The Metaphysical Reading

How the stone has been held.

Hematoid quartz is worked with as a stone of energised clarity, held when someone needs both the amplification of quartz and the grounding of iron. The red inclusions are said to act as anchors within the crystal's clear field, keeping heightened energy from becoming scattered.

II. The Scientific Reading

What the lattice actually does.

Hematoid quartz (also known as ferruginous quartz or fire quartz) is macrocrystalline quartz containing inclusions of hematite (Fe₂O₃), goethite, or lepidocrocite that appear as red, orange, or golden flame-like patterns within the crystal. The inclusions form when iron-rich hydrothermal fluids penetrate growing quartz crystals, precipitating oxide phases along crystal faces and fractures. The resulting stone combines the piezoelectric properties of quartz with the density and colour of iron oxide.
