II. The Scientific Reading

What the lattice actually does.

Löllingite is an iron arsenide (FeAs₂) that occurs in medium- to high-temperature hydrothermal veins alongside arsenopyrite, cobaltite, and other arsenide-sulfide minerals. It is isostructural with marcasite but with arsenic replacing sulfur. Because it contains around 73 % arsenic by weight and releases arsenic compounds when weathered or heated, löllingite is treated strictly as a locked mineralogical specimen — never tumbled, powdered, worn against skin, or used in water.
