Lattice Lace Agate has the chemical formula SiO₂, crystallises in the trigonal (chalcedony) system and measures 6.5 – 7 (Mohs) on the Mohs scale. Like all agates, lattice lace agate is microcrystalline quartz (chalcedony) deposited in cavities from silica-rich hydrothermal fluids. Its characteristic white lattice or lace patterns are formed by rhythmic banding and subtle variations in trace impurities during growth.
