Lazulite is a relatively rare magnesium aluminum phosphate hydroxide mineral. It typically forms as well-developed blue crystals in high-grade metamorphic rocks and quartzites. Its name derives from the Arabic lazaward, the same root as lapis lazuli and azure, referring to its color.
