Pinolith is an ornamental rock from Styria, Austria, in which rounded white magnesite (MgCO₃) nodules sit in a dark grey dolomite and graphite-bearing matrix. The nodules formed by metasomatic replacement within the host carbonate, and the dark colour of the matrix comes largely from finely dispersed graphitic carbon.
