I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Colourless topaz is worked with as a stone of undecorated intent, kept on the altar during vow-work, focused prayer and any practice that asks a person to state a thing plainly. Practitioners hold it as a reminder that clarity is its own kind of adornment.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Colourless topaz is the untinted form of topaz, an aluminium fluorohydroxide silicate whose colour normally comes from radiation-induced defects (blue, brown, orange). Untreated colourless material is the feedstock for most commercial 'sky blue' and 'London blue' topaz on the market, which is produced by controlled gamma and neutron irradiation followed by heat annealing.
