I. The Metaphysical Reading
How the stone has been held.
Fancy Jasper is worked with as a stone of composure, kept nearby during long study, quiet routines and the seasons of a life that reward patience over spectacle. Practitioners hold it as a reminder that beauty can come from what several minerals do together.

II. The Scientific Reading
What the lattice actually does.
Fancy jasper is a trade name for multicoloured varieties of jasper, a microcrystalline quartz opacified by 15 – 20 percent iron oxide, clay and other mineral impurities. The characteristic soft green, cream and pink mottling comes from mixed chlorite, hematite and clay deposition during silicification of the sedimentary or volcanic host rock. India is the principal commercial source.
