What the lattice actually does.

Jaspillite (also spelled jaspilite) is a variety of banded iron formation in which red, silica-rich jasper bands alternate with hematite- or magnetite-rich iron oxide bands. It formed on Archean and early Proterozoic sea floors as dissolved iron precipitated in rhythmic layers, then was folded and metamorphosed. The Hamersley Basin of Western Australia and the Lake Superior region are the classic sources.
