I. The Metaphysical Reading

How the stone has been held.

Mariposite is worked with as a stone of unhurried change and quiet freedom. Its soft green shimmer is said to encourage a lighter relationship with work, land, and the body — a stone for those learning to slow down without losing purpose.

II. The Scientific Reading

What the lattice actually does.

Mariposite is a green chromium-bearing variety of muscovite mica, most often found as fine flecks within a quartzite host rock. Named after Mariposa County in California, where it was first described in the gold-bearing belts of the Sierra Nevada, it commonly occurs in metamorphosed serpentinite and gold-quartz vein systems.
